Befriended in partnership with local churches and organisations, is on a mission to bring an end to loneliness and isolation among older people living in Sussex. 

Befriended is not just about activities - it is about transforming lives through connection, community, conversation and care.

We have seen first-hand the powerful difference that belonging can make. When people feel connected, valued, and supported, everything changes — confidence grows, wellbeing improves, and lives are enriched.

Our vision is to build communities where no one feels alone, but are given the opportunities and encouragement to belong.

  • We are passionate about making life better for older people — not only within our local community, but far beyond Sussex.

    As we grow, we want to:

    • Expand our model to reach more communities

    • Share what works and inspire others

    • Ensure that connection community conversation and belonging are at the heart of how we support older people everywhere

  • We recognise that the world is changing — and we want to be part of shaping that change for the better.

    This includes:

    • Exploring how technology, including AI, can support connection rather than replace it

    • Supporting initiatives that improve housing and quality of life in later years

    • Advocating for better support, understanding, and recognition of older people’s needs

  • At the heart of our vision is a commitment to listening — and making sure those voices are heard more widely.

    We want to:

    • Champion the experiences of older people

    • Influence how communities, services, and systems respond to their needs

    • Be a trusted voice  and advocate for those who are too often overlooked
